If you are a member of the council please let us know your thoughts below, as to assist with development of the post – election induction programme for 2023 and identify current training requirements.

There were about 23 training sessions and briefings available during the 11 weeks following the 2019 elections. Were you aware that so many training sessions were taking place?

In some instances, it may be possible to deliver some training in 2 halves. Session 1 for new Councillors to provide a foundation followed immediately by a session for all which will provide a refresh and top up for existing Councillors as well as new Councillors. Do you think this approach would be effective?

There are some committees which require certain training in order for a member to participate in such as Licencing and Planning. Do you think it would be beneficial for all members to attend such training whether or not they sit on those committees?
