Visual learners - I benefit most from seeing and observing things, including pictures, diagrams, written directions and more. Visual learners understand information better when it’s presented in a visual way. You may find you benefit from doodling, highlighting note taking and list making.Auditory learners – I learn better when the subject matter is reinforced by sound. I prefer to listen to lectures and presentations or participate in group discussions rather than read written notes. Auditory learners often use their own voices to reinforce new concepts and ideas and look for verbal confirmation that they have understood the subject. These types of learners sometimes prefer reading out loud to themselves and are often good at explaining concepts to others. Kinesthetic learners – I learn through experiencing or doing things. I like to get involved by acting out events or using touch in order to understand concepts or commit them to memory. These types of learners might struggle to sit still, often excel at sports or like to dance and may need to take more frequent breaks when studying.Reading and Writing learners – I learn best through written words. I benefit from written materials before a training session or writing up notes after. While there is some overlap with visual learning, these types of learners are drawn to expression through writing, reading articles or books, writing in diaries, looking up words in the dictionary and searching and researching via the library or the internet.
